Football Report:
The Halcombe Football team won 5-4 against South Makirikiri. It was a great and challenging game and they were a tough team to face. We scored the first goal but we were neck and neck all the way to the end. The highlight was when Jago scored a header goal which was crossed in from Brett. Another highlight was when George saved a very difficult goal in the bottom left corner. It was a very hard game and we are glad we won.
Rugby Report:
Before the game we were a bit nervous about how the weather would turn out. Even though it was a friendly match, we still played hard. South Makirikiri had only five players so we placed them in separate teams. Stefan started the match with a run-a-way try and conversion. The weather turned for the worse and it started to rain. Everybody scored, whether it was a try or a conversion. We didn’t keep track of the score but we know one team smashed the other.
'A' Netball Report:
Before the game, we started off with our usual Monday night warm-up which went really well. We also eyed up our opposition and talked about what kind of passes we should/shouldn’t do. We noticed that our defenders were really tall. The game went really well, however we made lots of silly mistakes with the basics. We communicated really well. Our shooting was a bit off in the first half, but it improved in the second half. The wind didn’t help. The final score was 26-6, to us.
'B' Netball Report:
We were nervous that our game was going to be cancelled, because it was drizzling. We felt the pressure building up as we saw the other team warming up. They were about the same height as us so that was a bonus, but they looked like a great team. In the first quarter, we were doing real well and worked really well together as a team. The other team looked like they had a lot of pressure on them as we scored our second goal. We won our game 16-0 and we all enjoyed our game.
Thank you to all our supporters and to Mrs Henderson, Mrs Baker, Mrs Short and Mrs Brett who helped organise our afternoon tea.
