In Room 6, we're not quite ready to say goodbye to the sun!  So, we thought we had better create our own sunshine with this cool Sun Art!

  4. Kia ora Room 6 - LOVE your sunshiney artworks. I'm seeing some fabulous blending and the interesting contrast of colours makes a powerful impact. I might have to try this with my class...

  5. Oh and if you don't mind me asking...did you have some examples to inspire you? and what were your success criteria? The shading looks very impressive, how did you get the shading done so well?

    1. Hi Jane, thanks for the comment! I had some photos of this art that my class did in 2014, so we used this as inspiration. The 'rules' were that the sun could come from any angle. We googled 'sun rays' to get ideas for how the rays could look. Once we had sketched out our sun, we outlined it with vivid. We've been doing a bit of practice with shading and yes, we're getting pretty good at it now. We had to use hot colours for the sun and cold colours for the background, and there had to be shading in both. Good luck if you end up doing this with your class, I'm sure it will be awesome!
