PLAN FOR MONDAY 30 MAY

Buenos Dias Amigos!

It’s official - I am not the ‘Last Man Standing’, though continue to be the OG.  I am very disappointed that I will not win the M n Ms.  As most of you know, I wasn’t feeling too flash last week, so my seven days started on about Wednesday.  That means I won’t be away the whole week, but we’ll just see how we go.  I know you'll be worried about the double Tech we have on Thursday/Friday - do not panic.  Everything will be fine!  One day at a time!

First and most important.... we have 165km to run/walk/swim this week.  As at 6pm on Sunday, (thanks to Alannah, Charlie, Ella, Sophie and Maggie), our total so far is 39.27kms.  That's 125.73kms to go!  So get out there people... and send me your screenshots or upload them directly into the Google folder.  We're at the half way mark, so let's push on and get this thing done!

Maggie - I have a job for you:  please track yourself at Tough Kids tomorrow.  We'll then multiply this by the number of kids we have there and add that to the total.

Here are some things that you need to do and be aware of today:

  • PE Shed:  Stevie and Max H.
  • Please pack up the hall from assembly.
  • You will have a zoom session with Tristan at 1.30 - he has a quiz for you.  I'll 'be there' too, and will probably score the highest in the quiz (as usual).
  • I am pushing PAUSE on all group reading this week.  Just make sure you have read up to where you need to be.  We’ll start fresh next week.
  • I am pushing PAUSE on our Kapiti writing too.
  • Maths is ON today.  Mrs Simpson's people, please go to R7 for maths.
  • Our class has the construction playground this week - yay!
  • Alannah - a job for you - please update our 'Last Man Standing' chart.  Cross off Blake, Ella and I.  Not many left now!
  • Caleb - I have a job for you too!  Can you please check the gutterboard balls are all returned after break times?  If a ball is missing, figure out who had it, and hunt them down.
  • Mrs Chase will coach the A netball team tonight.  Good luck to both teams!
  • A and B netball teams - there is NO PRACTICE on Thursday.  Your parents already know about this, and now you do too.  Make sure Mrs Stace knows if you are now on the bus please.  Stevie and Alannah, it's your job to make sure the kids in R7 know this too.  Tell them today.
  • There is no Y7-8 hockey on Friday night, and no netball next Monday night.  That's because it's Queen's Birthday.

Literacy:

Job number one this morning is to complete a survey based on our skateboarding programme.  Steve (the top man), wants some feedback on what you thought of the sessions.  Try to give extra detail in the ‘comment’ boxes.

SKATEBOARDING SURVEY - CLICK HERE

Once you’ve done the survey, your next priority is to make sure these four activities are finished:

  • Crossword
  • PF2050
  • Protecting To Grow NZ
  • TP

Once you’ve done those things, there are two more activities you can do: (all the info for both these activities is in the Biosecurity tab on our blog)

  • Detector Dogs - there are nine questions to answer.  You know the drill for this.  Set this out in the usual way and answer the questions using full sentences.
  • Biosecurity At Home - what can we all do to improve biosecurity at home.  You have a chart in your CF that needs to be filled in.  Use the whole space - give plenty of detail here.

PLAN FOR TUESDAY - TOUGH KIDS

  • You'll have a meeting with Mr Schaw about this later in the day.
  • Everything will go ahead as planned, though there have been some changes to the transport list.  You'll find these out later.
  • Good luck to all those who have signed up - should be awesome!
  • Juan, Max H and Oliver - you'll be the only R8 people left at school.  When the bell rings at 8.55am, please go to R4.  Miss Prior will look after you for the day.  Take your pencil cases.  Between the three of you, you need to ring the bell, deliver pie warmer lunches, and do the PE shed please.  I'm sure you'll be all over it.

That's it for now Room 8.  Hope you have a great day!

Be good,

The Boss
