Mega Maths Problem

We came across a rather tricky problem during maths today.  Danielle, Ffion and Victoria did a great job of persevering and trying to solve it, but they ran out of time.  It even stumped some of the teachers for awhile!  So, we made a decision - we would give everyone in our maths class the chance to solve the problem!

Bring your answers to maths on Monday - all those with correct answers will go in the draw to win free savouries for lunch on Wednesday!

Here is a subtraction problem.  The numbers a and b stand for digits.  If the two subtraction sums give the same answer, what digits do a and b stand for?

    I solved the problem, but I'm not going to say. Thanks to my mum and brother who helped solve this problem with me.

    My mum was pretty impressed that she worked the answers out in 2 minutes. Then she helped Tyler and I to work it out.
