Turangi Camp

Wow, what a week!  During our week in Turangi, we have been abseiling, caving, kayaking, tramping, mountain biking, swimming and white water rafting.  A massive congratulations to Room 6 for facing your fears and for showing grit and determination during these pretty challenging activities.  We also visited the hot pools, held a most excellent concert night and had a lot of fun and laughs along the way!  A huge thank you to our awesome camp parents - Mrs Alcock, Miss Atkinson, Miss Bloemendaal, Mr Short, Mr Durston and Mr Ireland.

We would also like to acknowledge the assistance of our PTA which helped to make our camp possible.

  2. Thanks for letting me come on camp with you, I had an absolute blast and it was awesome to get to know all the kids in room 6. I don't have a favourite activity, I enjoyed them all but if I had to choose one over the rest it would have to be rafting. Room 6 you guys rock!!

  3. I found this camp to be the best camp I have ever been on. There was so much going on that you had to catch up on your sleep wherever you could (like I did in Mr Durston's car).
The best activity was mountain biking.

  13. I really enjoyed camp and if I could I would do it all again and re-live every single little moment. I don't have a favourite activity, but abseiling was pretty awesome as it pushed you out of your safe zone and it gave you an oppotunity to do something different. All the activities were a once in a life time opportunity and I can't thank Miss Simpson and the parents enough for making this camp possible.
    Thank You!

  14. I really enjoyed our camp to Turangi this year. We had heaps of fun and many laughs along our trip. I participated in lots of activities I have never done before like rafting and caving. These two activities were my favourite I think having never doing them before held me not knowing what to expect. Thank You to all of the parents and especially Miss Simpson for making this trip possible.

  15. The 2013 camp was awesome! I enjoyed all of the activities, but my favourite activity was doing abseiling even though I thought it was a water sport at first. This was one of my favourite camps I have attended so far. Most of the things we did during camp I have never done before like rafting on the Tongariro River. Even though I got a bit home sick at first this was an amazing experience.

  19. Gee camp was fun. There were so many activities and they were all things I havn't done before. I would love to go back there one day and explore the Okupata caves some more and have some more time absailing. I think it will be just as amazing for the students who get to go in two years time. Thanks Miss Simpson for organising this camp and thanks to all the parents who I'm sure had a great time as well.

  26. I loved this year's camp, because we did lots of fun outdoor activities. My favourite activity would have to be the rafting. I loved the rapids and when we saw the whio, because everyone thought it was a shag. I also like the place where we stayed, because there was a massive field and a pond with goldfish in it!

  27. Turangi was probably one of my favourite camps ever at Halcombe School. I really enjoyed it, because out of all of the activities that we did I had only ever done a couple of them before. My favourite one was definitely caving, I really enjoyed all of the small spaces and found it challenging figuring out the best technique. Thank you so much to all of the parents and Miss Simpson, it wouldn't of been possible without you. i thought that this was an awesome way to end my last year at Halcombe!
