Social

To celebrate the end of our dance unit, we held the Social on Thursday night.  Everyone scrubbed up very well and looked pretty smart!  We danced all our dances, ate our wonderful supper, played the famous 'Elimination' game and had loads of fun.

Hot Dog And Spider Day

Hot Dog and Spider Day was a great success on Thursday.  We had to cook 126 hot dogs and make 126 spiders - it took some great team work to make this happen!

Buddy Class - Capture The Flag

For our final buddy class of the term, we decided to play Capture The Flag.  It was lots of fun!

Car Wash!

The car wash team had the green light this afternoon, and with the help of the rest of Room 6, cleaned nine cars - INSIDE and OUT!  It was a real mission to make sure the cars were cleaned properly.  The teachers were really pleased with their new-look wheels.  A great team effort Room 6 - well done!

Buddy Class - Ipads

Our buddy class are VERY clever at using ipads, so today they taught us how to use Tellagami.  This is a really cool app that allows you to design an avatar, record your voice and take a photo to have a background of your choice.  It was lots of fun and we hope to have another turn soon.  Thanks Room 2!

Tech - Week 8

Planting Day

It was time to replant our class barrel, as the old flowers were looking a bit sad.  First, Bethany and Ashley dug out the old flowers.  Next we had to put in new dirt and add plenty of water!

After that, it was time to plant our new flowers:

We also replanted our vege garden with silverbeet, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.  What a feast we'll have when these things are ready!

Thank you to the main helpers:  De Quante, Jasmine, Olivia, Madison and Kyle.  You did a great job!

Pet Day - Heads Up

Logo Design by FlamingText.com

Pet Day has been confirmed for Wednesday 29th October (Week 3, T4).  All students will be contributing TWO indoor exhibits.  We'll do lots of talking about our exhibits, but you can start planning your ideas now!

Exhibit One:  Miniature Rural Scenes
Using a large tray, students will make a miniature rural scene.  Students can use whatever resources they wish, such as natural materials (eg. sand, wood, sticks) and plastic farm animals.

Exhibit Two:  Rural Photo
Students will take a photo of a rural scene.  These will be printed, framed and displayed in an effective way.

Here is a slideshow of the rural photos the students in Room 6 took in 2013:

Cross Country - Heads Up!

It is six weeks until our cross country (Friday 24th October: Week 2, T4).  Unfortunately we won't have much time for training at school.  In fact, the only training we will do will be in Week 1 next term.  So, get off the couch and get out running!  The distance you will run in the cross country is approx. 2.6km and we are 99% sure we'll be using the same cross country course as 2013.  Good luck!

Carrot Time!

Over the past couple of months, we've been watching the carrots grow in our garden.  Olivia decided it was time to pull them out and so we got to it!

Next, we couldn't help ourselves - we made a CARROT sign, using carrots...

After that, we had to wash and peel them:

Finally, it was time to eat them - with good old onion dip of course!

Tech - Week 7

We've started our third and final technology rotation - the weeks are just flying by!  Here are some photos from today's action:

Board of Trustees Meeting

Last night, Jorja, Sophie, Hannah and Blair gave a presentation to the Board of Trustees.  They talked about key competencies, ICT (including student blogs), leadership, bullying and school culture.  They did an awesome job and the Board were very impressed with their maturity, confidence and ability to answer some hard questions!  Well done team!

Following this part of the meeting, the Board visited classrooms - check out the comment Ms. Darragh left us:

Super Services

We are well into our Services unit.  We have created mini 'businesses', aiming to provide a service for the other students in the Senior Team.  We've spent the last two weeks planning, reflecting and making decisions about all aspects of our businesses.  Today was the day we presented our ideas to the other students.

Victoria & Sophie

Hannah & Ffion

Tammy & Jade

Joshua & Jago

Trevor & Jordan

Madison & Cody

Luke & Blair

Jasmine & Danielle

Olivia & Jorja

We also have one group who have created a car cleaning business - their clients:  the teachers!

Next up the students in Rooms 4 and 5 had to choose the service they wanted to sign up for.  This information will allow us to move on the the next stage of our planning.
