Athletics Day

Wow, what an awesome morning!  We started off by doing a huge variety of activities - everything from a dress up race, to sack races, to an obstacle course, to target throwing.  It was heaps of fun.  After morning tea, we held the finals of the 100m for the Athletic Championships - congratulations to Elen and Stefan for winning these races.  Following that, we had loads of sprint races and the final of the 400m - congratulations to Elen and Alex for winning these really tough, exhausting races.  The final events were the house chants and relays.  Well done to Matai for winning the Junior relay and Kauri, who won the Senior relay.

Here are some highlights:

I really enjoyed running in the 100metre championship, (even though I slipped at the start), the 400metre and the other year 8 boy sprints. 10. Athletics was such a fantastic way to put all of our newly learnt skills to use. The fun rotations around all the activites was a enjoyable way to hang out with our friends. After morning tea we had the sprints, which was very fun to watch, as everyone was giving their all. Once again, I would like to thank all of the teachers for their work!

  17. I loved athletics! My favourite activity would be the water challenge. I liked it, because you got nice cold water down your back. I didn't enjoy sprints so much, because one race before 400m I rolled my ankle and in 400m it wasn't the best I could do.
