Maths

This week, we've been learning all about time!  We finished with a practical activity where we learnt to work out the exact speed we could run.  The formula to work out speed is:

SPEED = DISTANCE divided by TIME

So, we ran some lengths of the netball court - about 120m in total.  We timed ourselves using stopwatches, then did some quick calculations.  Most people found that their speed was around 4 or 5 metres per second over this distance.  That is about half the speed of the world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, who runs at 10.4 metres per second over 100m.  Amazing!
